Biography of Principal

The ♥ of Disa Park
Pre-primary School

Marie du Toit, the owner and principal of Disa Park Pre-primary, is a nurturer and teacher in heart and soul.

Her road to creating and setting up her own pre-primary haven for toddlers in 2013 is paved with extraordinary experiences and a passion for teaching.

Rewind to 1968 when she matriculated at Jan van Riebeeck High School at the foot of Table Mountain … this is where her magic carpet ride started. Her first stop after school took her to the heart of Switzerland where se attended the Sunnydale Finishing School. And then it was back to her first love – South Africa.

She sailed through her National Teachers’ Diploma at Barkly House, after which she was immediately appointed as the hands-on practical teacher trainer at Barkley House in 1973 to guide students to use their theoretical knowledge to apply it to their day-to-day practical experiences. Theory without the knowledge and insight to use it effectively in practise is useless.

Marie’s profound career path then gathered speed – her next stop was at Oude Molen as a Grade R teacher, followed by several happy years at Huppelland, first as a grade R teacher and then as the principal of Huppelland driving innovation.

As happy as she was at Huppelland, she always kindled a passion to create and launch her own school with cutting edge pedagogic principles. Marie’s magic carpet ride landed on the slopes of Table Mountain in 2013 where she has been creating magic for “her children” and their parents forever and a day.

Disa Park Pre-primary is Marie’s dream and passion come true. She is now creating dreams, happiness and learnings for your children, grand children and great grand children.
